jwardimages asked how wide it was at the base. Well I don’t have it in front of me, but I believe the gap between the feet was 60mm and the feet were about an inch wide, so around about 110mm would be my guess. I shall try to remember and measure it the next time I’m in the machine shop.
On reflection, I still like the depth gauge. It’s easy to locate and never has a dead battery, as well as being accurate enough for my initial machining. However if I was looking for greater accuracy it would be easy enough to make a digital version, probably at no greater cost.
Good review, thanks. I’ll be getting one. Can you say what the overall width is at the feet. I was a bit worried it may not span the throat of my table. cheers
I made something similar a while back. If you’d like you can check it out at http://www.lumberjocks.com/nobuckle. The one thing I don’t care for about the one I made is that the scale is a little hard to read. The graduation marks are a bit faint. It is wide enough so that it spans the throat plate of my table saw quite well. I had all that materials on hand so it didn’t cost me a dime.
